Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he achieved the result he wanted after sending an open letter to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. At the same time, the head of state did not disclose any details.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this on June 9 during a press conference with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries in Tallinn, Radio Liberty reports.

“I sent several letters to different institutions, including the EU, the United States, Congress, the President, and also to Putin. I had different goals. For example, when writing to the United States, I genuinely wanted to do everything possible to shift their focus, at least a little, from the Middle East to the situation in Ukraine,” the president said.

Zelenskyy did not reveal details, but noted that Ukraine needs a significant number of capabilities to defend against Russian ballistic missiles, and that he achieved the result he had hoped for.

“I cannot share all the details with you, but my country needs a very significant number of anti-ballistic capabilities. And I got a result,” Zelenskyy said.

Speaking about the letter to Putin, the president also stressed that he achieved the desired effect.

“I had a goal when I sent the letter to Putin, and I think I got the result that I needed,” the head of state said.

As a reminder, on June 4, the President of Ukraine published an open letter to Russian dictator Putin in which he proposed setting a “clear date for a meeting.” He also noted that representatives of Europe and the United States could join the bilateral negotiation format.
