Paratroopers from the 79th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade, together with HIMARS rocket launchers, destroyed a column of Russian armored vehicles moving towards Pokrovsk.
Video footage of the operation was released by operators of the Ivan Franko Group UAV of the 79th Brigade.
On the evening of August 28, the unit’s reconnaissance recorded the movement of an enemy mechanized column about 10 km from the front line. The column, which was advancing from the village of Prohres in the direction of Malynivka, included seven armored vehicles, including tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, as well as about a hundred infantrymen, some of whom were traveling on motorcycles.
Guided by aerial reconnaissance, HIMARS struck the column while it was on the move. After that, FPV drones targeted the disorganized group, and then rocket launchers carried out another strike.
As a result of the operation, all armored vehicles were destroyed and at least 50 Russian soldiers were killed.
According to paratroopers, this group could have belonged to units of the Russian group that was recently transferred from the Kursk region to Donetsk region, in particular the 155th Marine Brigade of the Russian Federation. The appearance of such a large number of armored vehicles near Pokrovsk may indicate the arrival of new forces, as previously the occupiers mainly used small infantry groups in this area.
