Olena Khotenko, acting head of the Main Department of the State Tax Service of Sumy region, indicated in her declaration that she had borrowed almost UAH 3 million from her 12-year-old son.
This was reported by Maryna Bohuslavets, head of the anti-corruption center “Mezha”.
“In the declaration for the last year, Khotenko continues to have a loan of UAH 2.8 million. But the most interesting thing is that this money was lent to her by her 12-year-old son in 2018,” Boguslavets said in her column.
She clarified that Khotenko’s son is now 18 years old. He is an individual entrepreneur and received UAH 3 million in income in 2023.
The declaration of the head of the Sumy tax office also includes a 500-square-meter house that Khotenko bought in Rivne region for 30 thousand hryvnias.
“The real market price of the house is at least UAH 10.8 million. After all, the cost per square meter of housing in Rivne region starts at $600 (about UAH 24 thousand),” explained Boguslavets.
In addition, Olena Khotenko’s mother, according to the declaration, gave her two apartments: one in Rivne and the other in Kyiv. According to Bohuslavets, the value of both properties (UAH 50,000 for the apartment in Rivne and UAH 100,000 for the apartment in Kyiv) is also significantly understated.
“For Khotenko, one declared square meter in the capital cost about $70. According to real estate experts, even taking into account the conditions in which the market in Kyiv found itself after the end of the fighting for the capital, the value of the gift indicated by the declarant does not correspond to its real price,” Boguslavets emphasized.
