24-year-old Liam Visser from the city of Groningen (Netherlands) covered nearly 1600 kilometers by bicycle to Lviv to raise funds for a summer vacation for Ukrainian teenagers. His journey had a charitable purpose — to support youth, particularly children from the small group home “Spilnota-Ridni.”

This was reported by the Lviv City Council.

According to the city department “Service for Children’s Affairs,” a total of 20 thousand euros was raised: 10,068 euros were collected personally by Liam, with an equal amount added by a philanthropist from the Netherlands. Five thousand of these funds were directly allocated for organizing the vacation of the children from the Lviv small group home “Spilnota-Ridni,” with the remainder directed toward supporting children from Ukraine’s hotspots.

The cyclist was greeted on Rynok Square by the children for whom he undertook the journey. Liam himself admitted that he wanted to do something that would bring smiles to Ukrainian children.

“I really wanted to support Ukrainian youth. I had the idea to make such a bicycle journey, raise funds, and do everything within my power to make young Ukrainians smile. It all came to fruition, and I am happy,” the traveler shared.

The location for the children’s summer vacation is currently being selected. The trip will definitely include scenic locations, traditional Ukrainian cuisine, and cultural elements. The departure is planned for the near future.
