        Flights suspended at a number of Russian airports

        Restrictions have been imposed on the airports of Sochi, Kazan, Samara, Grozny and Makhachkala. This was reported in the morning of December 27 by the Federal Air Transport Agency.

        Airports are not accepting or sending flights. The restrictions were imposed to “ensure the safety of civilian aircraft.”

        RosMedia reports that flights have been suspended due to the threat of drone attacks.

        At night, restrictions were also imposed on the use of airspace at the airports of Volgograd and Astrakhan.


        On December 25, an Azerbaijan Airlines airliner flying from Baku to Grozny crashed in Kazakhstan during an emergency landing, killing 38 of the 67 people on board. According to numerous media sources, the plane was hit by a Russian air defense missile near Grozny.
