Fierce fighting in the east: more than 80 clashes in the frontline, enemy intensified activity in the Pokrovsk sector

As of 16:00 on 31 May, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are holding back the offensive of the Russian occupiers, 83 combat engagements have been recorded. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The enemy is most active in the Pokrovsk sector, where it made 22 assault attempts over the last day. Fighting continues near Zorya, Mirolyubivka, Malynivka, Elizavetivka, Novomykolaivka, Poltavka and other localities. Ukrainian troops are holding back the attack and have already repelled 19 attacks.

Three combat engagements are ongoing in the Kupyansk sector and five in the Lyman sector. The enemy also became more active in the Toretsk sector, where six clashes took place. The situation also remains tense in the Kramatorsk, Siversk, Novopavlivka, Orikhiv and Kursk sectors. In particular, in the latter, the occupants conducted 12 attacks, and four more battles are ongoing.

The occupiers continue to launch missile, air and artillery strikes against civilian infrastructure. The shelling affected the border communities of Sumy region, including Prokhody, Khutir-Mykhailivskyi, Slavhorod, Miropilske and others.

The Ukrainian military are holding the line and inflicting significant losses on the invaders.
