Drones hit one of Russia’s largest refineries

On the night of 3 March, explosions were heard in Ufa, which, according to local residents, occurred after a drone attack on a local oil refinery. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out at the facility.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the National Security and Defence Council’s Disinformation Counteraction Centre, said the Ufa refinery is one of the largest in Russia. The capacity of this oil refining complex, which consists of several enterprises, is about 20 million tonnes of oil per year.

‘The Bashkortostan region is among the top 5 oil refining centres in the country in terms of total refining volumes. The refinery is of strategic importance for the Russian army, as it is part of a group of companies that provide fuel to the armed forces,’ Kovalenko wrote.
