On the night of 3 August, new explosions, destruction and fires were reported in several regions of Russia as a result of drone attacks. Voronezh and Sochi were particularly affected.
In Voronezh, according to the governor of the region, Alexander Gusev, the number of victims rose to four. Two women were hospitalised, another received medical assistance on the spot, and a man from the suburbs was taken to hospital with burns. In addition, as a result of falling drone debris, one private house was completely burned down, and several other buildings were damaged: walls, roofs and windows were destroyed.
In Sochi, the attack caused a large-scale fire at an oil depot in the Adler district. According to the mayor of the city, Andriy Proshunin, and the governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratyev, debris from the drone hit a 2,000 cubic metre fuel tank. In addition to the oil depot itself, a shop and five garages on Aviatsionnaya Street also caught fire. Preliminary reports indicate that there were no casualties.
More than 120 rescuers and dozens of pieces of equipment are working at the site. Sochi Airport temporarily suspended operations, and an air raid alert was declared in the city.
Local Telegram channels published videos of the large fire. Officials did not directly mention Ukrainian involvement, but Ukrainian sources had previously reported targeted strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure facilities, including in Sochi.
