Ukrainian defence forces continue to repel Russian attacks in the northern Slobozhanskyi direction, where the enemy continues to attempt to storm the border of the Sumy region.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

‘The active actions of Ukrainian defenders in this area, as well as in the Kursk direction, have pinned down a group of Russian troops numbering about 50,000 people, who have not been transferred to other threatening directions, in particular to Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka,’ the report said.

Currently, the front line has stabilised along Yunakivka, Yablunivka, Novomykolaivka, Oleksiivka, Kindrativka and extends into Russian territory in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region.

Ukrainian forces have already liberated Andriivka in the Sumy region and advanced in the Oleksiivka area, pushing the enemy further away from Sumy.

The General Staff notes that Russia is deploying its best units in this direction — marines, airborne assault troops, the most combat-ready motorised rifle units — and is also actively using long-range artillery, aviation and strike UAVs.

Nevertheless, the enemy is suffering significant losses: in June alone, more than 9,300 soldiers (of which more than 4,470 are irretrievable) and 423 pieces of equipment.

Ukrainian forces are striking targets up to 100 km deep, hitting enemy depots, command posts and logistical infrastructure, including on Russian territory. The enemy’s total losses since the start of the Kursk operation (August 2024) exceed 75,860 personnel and nearly 3,000 pieces of equipment.
