The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov commented on the missile strike on Sumy, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties. He reported this on his Telegram channel.
‘Another Russian war crime – a ballistic missile strike on Sumy, killing Ukrainian civilians,’ Budanov said. He stressed that the shelling took place on Palm Sunday, when many people were going to or returning from church.
According to him, Russian troops fired two Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles at the town from the territory of Voronezh (Liski) and Kursk (Lezhenki) regions. The attack involved the 112th and 448th missile brigades of the Russian Armed Forces.
Budanov stressed that everyone, from those who gave the orders to the perpetrators, must be held accountable for this crime. ‘It is our common task to ensure that no war criminal escapes retribution,’ he said and expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
