The Shatura Thermal Power Plant in the Moscow region was damaged during a night-time drone attack. This is evidenced by OSINT analysis conducted by the ASTRA team after reports of explosions from local residents.

According to preliminary data, the power distribution node of the power plant caught fire. A video taken on Zharova Street in Shatura shows a flash in the direction of the power plant, located approximately 1.6 km from the filming location. ASTRA confirmed that the attack caused a fire on the station’s territory.

On the night of 23 November, the mayor of Moscow reported that a number of drones had been shot down over the Moscow region. At the same time, residents of Shatura reported a direct hit on a local thermal power plant.

Later, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Moscow region reported through Russian media that three transformers with a total area of about 65 square metres had caught fire. According to them, 137 emergency service personnel and 49 pieces of equipment are working at the site. As of this morning, this information has not been published on the official resources of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The Shatura Thermal Power Plant named after V. I. Lenin is one of the oldest thermal power plants in Russia, founded in 1920 as part of the GOELRO plan. Its capacity is 1,500 MW, and the plant itself plays a key role in providing electricity and heat to the Moscow Region.

ASTRA OSINT analysts note that the transformers are part of the power distribution node, which was likely damaged during the attack. The Russian side has not yet officially specified the causes and extent of the damage.
