Following Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine, the government ordered the accelerated restoration of Kyiv’s Pivdennyi Bridge, which was damaged along with metro infrastructure. Due to traffic restrictions in the capital, surface transport is being reinforced and additional Kyiv City Express services are being launched during peak hours.

This was reported by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.

According to him, Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine using missiles and attack drones. Kyiv was the main target, while ten other regions were also attacked.

One person was killed and at least 16 others were injured.

Pivdennyi Bridge to be restored as quickly as possible

A strike hit the Pivdennyi Bridge and metro infrastructure in Kyiv.

Koretskyi said he had instructed the Ministry of Infrastructure to accelerate the work so the bridge could be restored as quickly as possible. According to him, the government is providing the necessary assistance.

Kyiv’s other bridges remain operational, although traffic on them has increased.

How the metro and surface transport are operating

The Green Line is operating between Syrets and Vydubychi stations. Trains are not running further toward Chervonyi Khutir, although the stations remain open as shelters.

To reduce pressure on the Red Line, the city has launched a temporary bus route and increased the number of buses on routes now operating via the Darnytskyi Bridge.

In addition, extra Kyiv City Express services will be launched during peak hours in cooperation with Ukrzaliznytsia starting on the evening of October 27.

Koretskyi also called on local authorities to monitor passenger loads and, if necessary, add replacement surface transport services connecting operating metro stations and the city rail network.

Earlier, “Glavnoe in Ukraine” reported that one person was killed and 14 others were injured in a Russian attack on Kyiv. The Pivdennyi Bridge and metro infrastructure were also damaged.
