On the night of August 8, Russian troops shelled the territory of a mine near Dobropillya in Donetsk region. As a result, a 110 kW substation was damaged, leading to a power outage and flooding of the mine.
This was reported by People’s Deputy and Chairman of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine, Mykhailo Volynets.
According to him, the shelling took place on the territory of the Dobropillyavuhillya-Vydobutok state-owned enterprise.
“The situation at the enterprise is critical. There is contamination, and most importantly, the mine is flooding. Most likely, the Dobropillia mine, its longwalls, in particular the recently opened ones, will be flooded with catastrophic consequences for the community and the region,” Volynets said.
At the time of the accident, nine miners were underground — all of them were brought to the surface.
