Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced the aid to Ukraine during his visit to Kyiv. According to him, the total amount of aid is $400 million, which is equivalent to 4 billion Norwegian kroner.
Espen Barth Eide specified that $200 million will be allocated for urgent winter needs, in particular for the purchase of gas and the repair of energy infrastructure to ensure stable heating and electricity supply. The remaining $200 million is earmarked to support Ukraine’s state budget.
Andriy Sybiga noted that Norway was one of the first to respond to Ukraine’s need for additional gas supplies. He recalled that in the fall, Norway had already provided about $150 million in energy assistance for the purchase of gas during the winter period.
The Ukrainian foreign minister also said that in 2026, the Norwegian government plans to allocate $8.4 billion in aid to Ukraine, maintaining the level of support at the previous year’s level. In addition, Norway remains one of the leading countries in the PURL program.
