Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on July 26 with eight missiles and 136 drones of various types. Kyiv and nine regions came under attack, leaving people dead and injured.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the consequences of the strikes.
According to Zelenskyy, an attack drone struck residential buildings in Kharkiv. One person was killed and nine others were injured, including two children. All necessary emergency services are working at the scene.
In Kryvyi Rih, State Emergency Service units continue to extinguish a fire at a construction hypermarket. Three people were injured in Kyiv after the capital was targeted with ballistic missiles.
The Kherson, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Chernihiv regions were also targeted.
Zelenskyy said many of the aerial targets had been intercepted, but not all of them.
According to the president, Russian forces used nearly 1,700 drones, more than 1,630 guided aerial bombs and 95 missiles of various types against Ukraine over the past week. More than half of the missiles were ballistic.
The president said Ukraine was working with its partners every day to strengthen its air defenses. He called for anti-ballistic defense packages and interceptor missiles to be delivered on time.
“Every interceptor missile now literally helps save lives when it is here, in Ukrainian systems, rather than sitting in our partners’ warehouses,” Zelenskyy said.
