President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated everyone celebrating Easter on April 5 and emphasized the importance of faith and hope in difficult times. He wished for peace, strength of spirit, and the triumph of good over evil.

Zelenskyy noted that in difficult times for Ukraine and the world, hope becomes especially strong — hope for life to overcome death, good to overcome evil, and truth to overcome lies, all of which are symbolized by the Resurrection of Christ.

The president expressed hope that people’s strength and spirit will help overcome war, drone and missile attacks, injustice, and occupation. He also wished Ukrainians God’s grace and a peaceful life under the Ukrainian sky.

The head of state also emphasized the importance of prayer, faith, and unity, which strengthen those defending their country.

On April 5, 2026, Easter is celebrated by Western Christians — Roman Catholics and most Protestants. Eastern Christians, including Orthodox and Greek Catholics, will celebrate Easter a week later, on April 12.

At the same time, Eastern Christians mark Palm Sunday — the holiday preceding Easter, commemorating Jesus Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. According to the Gospel tradition, people welcomed him with palm branches as a sign of honor. In Ukrainian tradition, willow branches are used instead of palms.
