President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that US Special Representative Steve Witkoff was spreading Russian narratives about the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. At the same time, he expressed confidence that the myth of Moscow’s desire to end the war would gradually disappear.

‘These messages are very similar to the Kremlin’s rhetoric. It seems that Vitkoff has spent too much time in dialogues with Putin,’ Zelenskyy said during the press conference.

The President stressed that the so-called ‘referendums’ in the occupied territories had no legal basis and were held under pressure and with the participation of ‘dead souls’.

Zelenskyy also said that another Russian narrative is being spread in the United States – about the alleged ‘historical belonging’ of Ukrainian territories to Russia.

He expressed hope that Washington would gradually realise that Moscow could not be trusted.

‘The Russians assured Witkoff that they wanted to end the war. But everyone can see that this is not true. Distrust in them will only grow,’ Zelenskyy said.

He added that despite the significant influence of Russian propaganda, the illusion of the Kremlin’s peaceful intentions is gradually being dispelled.
