President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the presentation of a state award to Sister María Lucía Karam Padilla, director of the Santa Clara Monastery Foundation. This is stated in the president’s post.
According to Zelenskyy, the nun has come to Ukraine more than 40 times since the beginning of the Russian aggression — bringing prayer, support for wounded soldiers, and humanitarian aid for civilians. Thanks to cooperation with the Foundation, Ukraine received transport, generators, medicines, blankets, surgical equipment, a mobile hospital and ambulances.
In Madrid, the president presented Sister María Lucía with the Order of Princess Olga, 3rd class, and expressed gratitude for her constant attention to Ukraine. Zelenskyy stressed that the country will always be grateful to everyone who supports its struggle to protect people — spiritual leaders, public figures, politicians and entrepreneurs.
