President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the unblocking of the EU support package for Ukraine worth €90 billion is already effectively underway. According to him, this should increase pressure on Russia and help bring the war to an end.
The President noted that an agreement with the European Union is being implemented regarding the unblocking of financial assistance for two years, as well as a new sanctions package against Russia. He emphasized that such a decision is the right signal under the current circumstances.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia must end the war, and the necessary motivation for this will arise only if there is sufficient support for Ukraine and increased sanctions pressure.
The head of state stressed that Ukraine is fulfilling its obligations in relations with the EU, including in complex issues such as the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline. At the same time, Kyiv expects appropriate steps from European partners to protect lives and advance Ukraine’s European integration.
Zelenskyy also said he plans to discuss with European leaders the opening of clusters for Ukraine, noting that the necessary conditions have already been met.
He also emphasized that Ukraine continues to work on strengthening sanctions against Russia and developing the European energy system in order to deprive Moscow of the ability to influence energy supplies to Europe.
The President thanked international partners for their support and noted that the coming days are especially important for Ukraine’s European diplomacy.
