President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky delivered an Easter message on Sunday, expressing hope that life would triumph over evil and that peace would come to Ukraine.

“Evil has its hour, but God has His day,” the President said, emphasizing that this is one of the core meanings of Christ’s story — the belief that sooner or later, evil will retreat and life will prevail.

Zelensky noted that Ukrainians have been united in this hope for all 1,152 days of the full-scale war. This Easter is especially symbolic, he said, as Christians of all denominations in Ukraine celebrate the holiday on the same date.

“We are fighting for Ukraine together. And we are praying for Ukraine together,” he said.

He expressed his faith that “the day of life will come, the day of peace, the day of Ukraine” — a day that will last for generations. Zelensky wished for all Ukrainians to once again gather at the same table to celebrate Easter in peace.

“May God help us in this. Let there be peace. Let there be Ukraine,” he concluded, ending his message with the traditional Easter greeting: “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!”
