President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Ukrainian forces are achieving results on several fronts, particularly in the Sumy region, the Pokrovsk direction, Donetsk region, and near Kupiansk. He made the announcement in his address on June 14.
According to Zelensky, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi provided an update on the front line situation, emphasizing successful offensive operations in the border areas of Sumy region, including the liberation of the settlement of Andriivka.
“Based on the results of recent days, special gratitude goes to the soldiers of the 225th Separate Assault Regiment – specifically for offensive actions in the border areas of Sumy and the liberation of Andriivka,” Zelensky said.
He also highlighted the successful actions of the 425th Separate Assault Regiment in the Pokrovsk direction, the 1st Separate Assault Regiment and the 82nd Separate Air Assault Brigade in Donetsk region, and the 3rd Assault Brigade near Kupiansk.
The president added that active operations on Russian territory, referred to as the “Kursk operation,” are ongoing. He praised the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment, the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade, and the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade for their courage.
Zelensky also announced another prisoner exchange that took place on June 14 — the fourth this week. Ukraine managed to bring back military personnel, including army and border guard officers, as well as soldiers and sergeants. Many of them had been held in Russian captivity since 2022, including defenders of Mariupol and Azovstal.
“They are already home, back in Ukraine. All are receiving the necessary assistance after their injuries and the harsh conditions of Russian captivity. Many are in very serious condition,” Zelensky said.
He added that agreements on further exchanges remain in place, and another return of Ukrainian prisoners is expected next week.
