President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in a social media post that Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal had delivered a report outlining key elements that require changes in Ukraine’s defence sector. He said it is time to revise the country’s basic defence documents, including the national defence plan, as the course of the fighting has shown which priorities must be updated. Zelenskiy added that Shmyhal will prepare detailed proposals and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval.

The minister also reported on his trips to the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions and on measures to strengthen protection there. Another topic of discussion was the defence of critical infrastructure and the allocation of necessary resources.

Zelenskiy stressed that the government and the Ministry of Defence are fully providing funding for procurement, including drones for combat brigades. He said a new monthly tranche of 4.3 billion hryvnias had been allocated for combat brigades, and an additional 8 billion hryvnias was directed to support the Drone Line initiative.
