Ukraine has launched a pilot project to automatically check the military records of men of military age. This should simplify the issuance of passport documents for citizens aged 18 to 60 who are abroad.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of National Unity, men no longer need to personally present a military registration document when applying for a Ukrainian passport or a foreign passport.

Foreign branches of the state enterprise Document will independently check the status of military registration in the register. If there is no data, it will be entered automatically, registering the person and creating an electronic military registration document.

There will also be no need to undergo a medical examination. Once the check is complete, the passport will be issued within the standard timeframe.

‘Thanks to these changes, thousands of citizens who are forced to stay abroad will be able to issue or renew their passports. This, in turn, simplifies access to legal stay outside the country, employment, education, public services and maintaining contact with Ukraine,’ said Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov.
