Russia has launched a combined air attack against Ukraine that could last for an extended period, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency said. According to the HUR, after waves of attack drones Russia plans to use cruise and ballistic missiles.
In a statement, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry (HUR) said Russia launched a new large-scale attack against Ukraine on May 13.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, during the first wave Russia is using a large number of strike drones to overload Ukraine’s air defense systems and hit civilian targets.
The HUR said Russia later plans to deploy a significant number of air- and sea-launched cruise missiles, as well as ballistic missiles.
Intelligence officials said the targets may include critical infrastructure and life-support facilities in major cities, including energy infrastructure, defense industry enterprises and government buildings.
The HUR added that Russia is trying to undermine Ukraine’s resilience in the war after rejecting proposals for a ceasefire.
Ukrainians were urged to respond to air raid alerts and stay in shelters.
