The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has codified and approved for use the domestically produced JEDI Shahed Hunter unmanned aerial system. The interceptor drones in this system are capable of destroying Russian attack UAVs such as Shahed, Geran, and Gerbera, as well as intercepting reconnaissance drones like Zala and Supercam.

According to the Defense Ministry, the JEDI Shahed Hunter is a copter-type aerial drone with vertical takeoff capability. It is equipped with a lightweight and durable frame, four electric motors, and a high-capacity battery. With a total weight of just over 4 kg, the drone can carry up to 500 grams of payload, which is sufficient to destroy attack drones.

The drone can reach speeds of over 350 km/h and operate at altitudes of up to 6 km. It receives data from radar systems automatically, enabling it to quickly detect and eliminate targets.

Flight coordination is ensured by a ground control station that maintains stable communication and targeting accuracy. The drone can automatically lock onto targets and is equipped with both daytime and thermal imaging cameras, allowing it to operate both day and night.

The system can cover airspace within a radius of up to 40 km. The Defense Ministry emphasized that strengthening air defense is a top priority, particularly to ensure real-time detection of all aerial threats and interception of the majority of missiles and drones.
