On the night of December 28, units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Syzran oil refinery in Russia’s Samara region. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, strike drones hit the refinery’s territory, causing a fire. The plant’s annual processing capacity ranges from 7 to 8.9 million tonnes of oil. Ukrainian military officials noted that the Syzran refinery is part of Russia’s energy rear and is involved in supplying the aggressor’s armed forces. The extent of the damage is being clarified.
In addition, Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck a storage and maintenance site for uncrewed surface vessels near Chornomorske in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, a repair unit of Russia’s 1435th Motor Rifle Regiment near Antratsyt in the occupied part of Luhansk region, a pontoon crossing near Nikonorivka, and a storage facility for Shahed-type drones in Makiivka, Donetsk region. The General Staff also confirmed the results of a previous strike on the LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil processing plant in Russia’s Volgograd region, where an oil products pipeline and a technological unit for lubricant production were damaged.
Ukraine’s Defence Forces said they will continue measures aimed at undermining Russia’s military and economic potential and forcing Moscow to end its armed aggression against Ukraine.
