Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in New York. The parties discussed continued support for Ukraine, cooperation in the field of technology, and opportunities to strengthen air defense.
This was reported by the Office of the President.
Zelenskyy thanked Japan for supporting Ukraine throughout the years of Russia’s war, in particular for energy packages, sanctions decisions, and humanitarian projects. Takaichi assured him that assistance to Ukraine would continue.
The leaders also discussed areas in which Ukraine and Japan could be useful to each other.
“Of course, Ukraine is ready to share its experience and technologies on a mutually beneficial basis. Japan also has strong technologies for protecting lives, primarily in air defense, which can help Ukraine get through the next winter if Russia once again rejects negotiations,” Zelenskyy said.
The President invited Takaichi to visit Ukraine, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which Japan helped restore after a Russian drone strike in June this year.
