Ukraine and NATO have agreed on key priorities for further cooperation in the field of defense and security. These include strengthening air defense, developing Patriot systems, F-16s and HIMARS, as well as joint work on achieving a technological edge.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov held a meeting with NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine Patrick Turner and Lieutenant General Curtis Buzzard, Commander of NATO’s Security Assistance and Training Mission for Ukraine and Commander of the Ukraine Security Assistance Group.
During the meeting, Mykhailo Fedorov thanked NATO for its consistent support and effective coordination of critically important defense assistance, in particular within the PURL initiative, through which Ukraine receives the necessary ammunition for air defense. He emphasized that protecting the sky remains a key priority, and that Ukraine is transforming its “short-range” air defense system to achieve this.
The parties agreed on key areas of cooperation, including strengthening air defense, developing Patriot systems, F-16 aircraft and HIMARS rocket systems, as well as joint work on achieving a technological advantage.
The head of the Ministry of Defense noted that Ukraine is sharing with its partners unique combat experience, real battlefield data and technological solutions that are already in use.
The parties also identified coordination of the Ramstein format together with Germany and the United Kingdom as a separate track, aimed at accelerating decision-making and the delivery of the assistance Ukraine needs.
