Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk advanced to the fourth round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto. Svitolina crushed Anastasia Potapova 6-1, 6-1 in one hour, while Kostyuk defeated Madison Keys in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Elina Svitolina defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-1, 6-1 in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Toronto.
The Ukrainian spent one hour on court. During the match, she made five breaks from ten break points and did not lose a single game on her own serve, saving all five break points faced.
Svitolina won two consecutive matches in Toronto for the first time since 2019 and reached the fourth round of the tournament in Canada for the second season in a row. It was also the first time since June that she had won two matches in succession. Back then, the Ukrainian reached the quarterfinals of the tournament in Berlin.
Svitolina’s next opponent will be Amanda Anisimova of the United States. Last year, the Ukrainian beat her in the fourth round of the tournament in Montreal and leads their head-to-head series 4-1.
Marta Kostyuk also advanced to the fourth round. In the third round, she defeated Madison Keys of the United States 6-3, 6-1.
It was Kostyuk’s first win in three matches against Keys. The Ukrainian had previously lost to her in the third round of Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024.
Kostyuk reached the fourth round of the tournament in Canada for the second season in a row. Last year in Montreal, she reached the quarterfinals.
In the round of 16, Marta Kostyuk will face Poland’s Iga Swiatek. In May at Roland Garros, the Ukrainian earned her first victory over Swiatek in four meetings. The Kostyuk-Swiatek match will take place on Saturday, August 8.
