        Two powerful explosions rock Zhytomyr region: two killed, dozens injured, homes destroyed

        On the evening of July 2, at around 6:00 p.m., two explosions occurred in the village of Berezyna, Zhytomyr region. According to Serhiy Sokalskyi, head of the Hlybochytska community, the blasts happened at the warehouse of an industrial enterprise. No air raid alert was active at the time.

        According to Vitalii Bunechko, head of the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, two people have been confirmed dead and at least 24 others injured, including four children. One body has been recovered, while rescuers are still searching for the second victim. Many of those injured were at home when the explosions occurred.

        Preliminary reports indicate that about 25 houses were completely destroyed. Local authorities are currently inspecting the area to determine the full extent of the damage. Three power lines were also damaged, leaving 735 households without electricity. Nine emergency repair crews are working to restore power.

        An operational headquarters has been set up at the site, and temporary shelter is being provided for affected residents in community facilities. The exact cause of the explosions remains unclear; according to Sokalskyi, two production facilities were completely destroyed.

        Traffic on the M06 highway near the incident site has been partially restricted. A two-way lane has been organized, with one lane open in each direction between Kyiv and Zhytomyr while cleanup operations continue.

        Vitalii Bunechko confirmed that the situation is under the direct supervision of the President of Ukraine and assured that everyone affected will receive financial support to rebuild their homes.
