On Wednesday, 9 July, Ukraine will be hit by a heatwave, with temperatures reaching +39°C in some places. The highest temperatures are expected in the east, south and central regions, according to weather forecaster Natalka Didenko.
‘On 9 July, Ukraine will be one of the hottest countries in Europe. But it will also be contrasting,’ says Didenko.
The most comfortable weather will be in the western regions, in Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia, where daytime temperatures are forecast to reach +21…+28°C. The rest of the country will see hot weather: up to +34°C in the north, and up to +39°C in the centre, east and south.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in the western and northern regions and in Vinnytsia Oblast, with possible downpours, squalls and hail. In Kyiv, it will also be hot, up to +33°C, with a possible thunderstorm in the evening.
According to Didenko, the heat will subside on 11-12 July. However, in the eastern part of Ukraine, the intense heat will continue, reaching +35+39, and in some places up to +40 degrees.
