The Russian occupation army has concentrated about 111,000 troops in the Pokrovsk direction.
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
According to Syrsky, the occupiers are trying to advance to the border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
“They want to do this not only to achieve some operational results, but primarily for demonstration purposes. To achieve a psychological effect: to put the infamous “foot of the Russian soldier” in place, plant the flag and trumpet another “victory”. Russian sabotage and assault groups were particularly active here two weeks ago. But they were all destroyed or neutralised, and the rest were pushed back from the administrative border. The situation is under control,” Syrsky said.
The commander-in-chief also talked to Ukrainian soldiers and held meetings with units of the Armed Forces and National Guard of Ukraine, which are defending this area.
‘I had the opportunity to study the operational situation in detail and identify all the problematic issues. I gave the orders necessary for the effective fulfilment of defence tasks,’ Syrsky said.
