As of 4:00 p.m. on May 4, Russian forces continue to pursue their plans to occupy Ukrainian territory and are actively attacking Defense Forces positions. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the day, 101 combat engagements have taken place. The enemy is conducting air and artillery strikes and assaulting Ukrainian positions in the Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, Novopavlivka, Hulyaipole, Orikhiv, and Kursk directions. The most intense fighting is ongoing in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka sectors, where dozens of attacks were launched, some of which are still ongoing.
Border settlements in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions suffered from shelling originating from Russian territory. Airstrikes were carried out on Vovchansk, Orikhiv, Hulyaipole, and other towns and villages.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces are holding the line, inflicting significant personnel and equipment losses on the enemy. Fighting continues.
