The country’s main Christmas tree was lit in Kyiv

On December 6, traditionally on St. Nicholas Day, the lights of the country’s main Christmas tree were solemnly lit on St. Sophia Square in Kyiv.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that this year’s 15-meter-high Christmas tree is artificial.

The tree was installed and decorated at the expense of patrons. The white color symbolizes a bright and clean path, reminding us of the renewal brought by Christmas and the New Year, Klitschko said.
