Ukrainians continue to actively purchase used cars from the United States — in the first nine months of 2025, more than 37,000 vehicles were imported, up 11% from last year. Tesla Model Y and Model 3 lead the ranking of the most popular models.

        This was reported by UkrAvtoprom.

According to the association, since the beginning of the year Ukrainians have imported 37,100 used passenger cars from the US. Nearly half of them are electric vehicles (43%), while gasoline cars account for 41%, hybrids — 8%, diesel — 5%, and LPG-powered cars — 3%.

The average age of these imported vehicles is 5.6 years.

The top 5 most popular American-made cars in Ukraine this year are:

        1. Tesla Model Y — 5,301 units
        2. Tesla Model 3 — 4,520 units
        3. Ford Escape — 2,660 units
        4. Nissan Rogue — 1,892 units
        5. Jeep Cherokee — 1,879 units

Thus, one in four used cars imported from the US to Ukraine is a Tesla.

Currently, Ukraine has a zero customs duty policy for electric vehicles, exempting them from VAT and import tariffs. However, experts remind that starting January 1, 2026, these benefits will expire.

After that, importing an electric vehicle will require paying the full tax package — including 20% VAT, 10% import duty, and an excise tax based on the battery capacity.

Analysts predict that this could increase final EV prices by 20–30% or more, explaining the current surge in demand for Teslas and other electric vehicles imported from the US.
