On May 1, Ternopil came under a massive drone attack; more than 50 “suicide drones” were spotted in the sky above the city. The strikes resulted in injuries and damage to infrastructure. Some areas are heavily smoke-filled.

This was reported by Ternopil Mayor Serhiy Nadal.

Over 50 attack drones were detected over Ternopil during the attack, and more than 20 explosions were heard in the city. Industrial and infrastructure facilities were hit. Emergency services are on the scene.

As of now, ten people are known to have been injured, some of whom are in serious condition. All victims are receiving medical care. There are no reports of fatalities.

Some neighborhoods remain without power; restoration work is ongoing.

Residents are being warned about the danger of debris and urged not to approach suspicious objects.

“Cleanup efforts and firefighting operations are underway. As a result, smoke is visible in the Old Park area and the city center. I ask residents of these areas to immediately close their windows and doors and limit their time outdoors,” Nadal wrote.
