Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the situation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation is under the control of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
According to Syrskyi, a number of settlements in the combat zone have been virtually destroyed due to massive shelling by Russian troops. Despite the enemy’s considerable numbers, reinforced by North Korean infantry, it suffers significant losses.
‘In the Plekhove area alone, the enemy lost an infantry battalion in four days of fighting. Separate subversive reconnaissance groups and small infantry groups of the enemy trying to infiltrate the territory of Ukraine are destroyed by the firepower of our troops thanks to the defence system created in advance,’ said the Commander-in-Chief.
Syrskyi stressed that in order to strengthen the grouping in the region, a decision was made to deploy additional forces and equipment, including electronic warfare and unmanned aerial vehicles.
He also denied Russian statements about the threat of encirclement of Ukrainian units.
‘There is currently no threat of encirclement of our units in the Kursk region. The units are taking timely measures to manoeuvre to favourable defence lines,’ he added.
