        Svyrydenko government resigns, Shmyhal to serve as acting prime minister

        The Verkhovna Rada has approved the resignation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. The decision also means the resignation of the entire Cabinet of Ministers.

        A total of 258 lawmakers voted in favor of the prime minister’s resignation.

        Following parliament’s decision, Denys Shmyhal will once again serve as acting prime minister. The other Cabinet members will also continue performing their duties until a new government is formed.

        Yuliia Svyrydenko headed the Cabinet of Ministers for slightly less than a year. The Verkhovna Rada appointed her prime minister on July 17, 2025.
