Police have arrested a man suspected of murdering MP Andriy Parubiy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has announced.
“Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Security Service of Ukraine Chairman Vasyl Malyuk have just reported the arrest of a suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy,” the president wrote.
According to Zelensky, investigators have already obtained initial testimony from the suspect, and the necessary procedural steps are being taken.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko specified that the alleged shooter was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region. According to him, the crime was carefully planned: the perpetrator followed Parubiy’s movements, determined his route, and prepared an escape plan.
“Twenty-four hours after the murder, we were already on the shooter’s trail, and 36 hours later, we detained him. More details will be provided by the police later,” Klymenko said.
As a reminder, on August 30, former Verkhovna Rada chairman and current European Solidarity MP Andriy Parubiy was killed on Yefremova Street in Lviv. He died from gunshot wounds at the scene.
