Shmyhal discussed Ukraine’s European integration with Borrell

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with EU High Representative Josep Borrell to discuss Ukraine’s European integration.

Shmyhal wrote about this in his Telegram.

“We highly appreciate the positive assessment of Ukraine’s progress reflected in the European Commission’s report, as well as the intention to open cluster negotiations in 2025. European integration remains our absolute priority, and I expressed my gratitude to Mr. Borrell for his leadership in this process,” Shmyhal said.

The parties also discussed further cooperation within the framework of the European Peace Fund and the Ukraine Assistance Fund.

“We are grateful for the provided ammunition and hope to receive a total of 1 million rounds by the end of the year. The security agreement with the EU signed in June is especially important, and we expect its successful implementation,” the Prime Minister added.

Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine seeks to develop joint production and support for its defense industry based on the model used by Denmark, where allies finance the production of weapons for the needs of the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces.

Shmyhal also expressed his deep gratitude to Josep Borrell for his personal support and constant efforts in favor of Ukraine during the full-scale war with Russia.
