Search and rescue operations have been completed in Kyiv at the site of the Russian strike on the Solomyanskyi district. The operation lasted more than 39 hours.

This was announced by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

‘Unfortunately, the bodies of 23 victims were recovered from the rubble at this location alone. In total, 28 people were killed and more than 140 were injured in the capital as a result of the Russian shelling on 17 June,’ the minister said.

The oldest victim was 91 years old, and the youngest was a 22-year-old man.

More than 400 rescuers and over 200 pieces of equipment were involved in the clean-up operation. Specialised engineering equipment, drones and search dogs were used.

‘The State Emergency Service rescued two people from under the rubble and managed to free about 50 more from apartments and stairwells. Teams of psychologists worked at the scene, providing emergency psychological assistance to more than 220 people. We used all our resources to save lives,’ Klymenko added.
