A Sberbank data center and the industrial zone of a metallurgical plant came under attack in the city of Balakovo in Russia’s Saratov region. Construction of the data center has not yet been completed, although some parts of the facility may already have been put into operation.
This was reported by the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.
According to Exilenova+, the Sberbank data center project is valued at more than $1 billion. The complex is expected to become one of the largest data centers in Russia.
The project envisages around 3,000 server racks, up to 120,000 servers, and an electrical capacity of up to 82 MW.
The data center is intended to support Sberbank’s IT infrastructure and provide data storage and processing.
According to the channel, strikes also hit the industrial zone of the MZ Balakovo metallurgical plant.
The facility specializes in the production of steel and rolled metal products, including reinforcing bars and long steel products.
The report did not provide information on the extent of damage to either facility.
