Russian drones attacked the Starokozache international road border crossing on the Moldovan border overnight on September 9. Two civilians were killed and three others were injured.
The consequences of the attack were reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Odesa Regional Military Administration and the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova.
According to Moldovan border guards, the attack took place in the area of the Tudora–Starokozache crossing. Between 23:35 and 00:05, one drone attacked the Starokozache border crossing, while two more drones fell nearby on Ukrainian territory.
People who were at the border crossing were evacuated. A mobile patrol of the Moldovan Border Police heard four explosions and saw flashes on Ukrainian territory.
The attack damaged the border crossing infrastructure and the surrounding area. A large fire broke out, structures were damaged, and buses, trucks and passenger cars were destroyed.
According to preliminary information, two people were killed and three others were injured. The victims’ citizenship is being established. Rescuers evacuated 16 people and transported them by bus to a safe location for temporary accommodation.
The Starokozache international border crossing has been closed.
