Russia has said that the models for ending the war proposed by the United States do not take into account Moscow’s key demands. The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that Donald Trump’s approach does not include issues that Russia considers “the root causes of the conflict.”
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Espresso.TV reports.
According to the Russian representative, there was no signal from Donald Trump to Kyiv to end the war.
“All we have today is an attempt to find some kind of scheme that would allow us to first achieve a ceasefire, as the Americans think. And then move on to some other models and schemes, which, as far as we can tell, do not currently include our main demand, namely, solving the problems associated with the root causes of this conflict. This is completely absent, and it must be overcome,” the Russian diplomat said.
According to Ryabkov, Russia takes all US proposals seriously, but has its own approaches and priorities.
“We take the models and solutions proposed by the Americans very seriously, but we also cannot accept all of this as is. We certainly have a deeply and carefully thought-out set of our own priorities and approaches to this topic, which is being worked out and has been worked out, in particular, by our negotiating team in recent talks with the Americans in Riyadh,” Ryabkov added.
As a reminder, on March 25, the Ukrainian and American delegations held talks in Riyadh and agreed to a 30-day partial truce. As reported, Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow agreed to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea. Russia was also supposed to stop shelling energy facilities.
Also today, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that Russia is violating the agreement with the United States on an “energy truce.” Despite the agreements reached in Riyadh, Russian troops continue to strike at energy infrastructure, particularly in Kherson, Kharkiv, and Poltava. In the morning, a new shelling damaged a power facility in Kherson, leaving 45,000 people without electricity.
