One of the Russian drones involved in the night attack on Ukraine likely flew into Romanian airspace.

This was reported by the Romanian Ministry of National Defence.

According to their data, the incident could have occurred during strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure near the border with Romania. Danger signals were sent to residents of Tulcea County via the RO-ALERT system.

A possible airspace violation was detected by a radar system: one of the drones may have flown up to 500 metres deep into the country, approximately 8 km from the village of K.A. Rosetti. The situation is being investigated, and search operations and an official investigation have been launched.

F-16 fighter jets of the Romanian Air Force and Eurofighter jets of the Italian Air Force were scrambled to respond.

The Romanian Ministry of Defence emphasised that it strongly condemns Russian attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, calling them unjustified and in gross violation of international law.
