Russian forces struck a shopping complex in Zaporizhzhia with a drone. The attack caused a massive fire and injured one person.
This was reported by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to the regional administration, Russian forces attacked a supermarket on the right bank of Zaporizhzhia in the evening. The shopping complex was hit in the strike.
A large fire broke out at the site. Initially, there were no reports of casualties.
The State Emergency Service later reported that the shopping complex had been destroyed in the Russian UAV attack and that one person had been injured.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which covered an area of more than 10,000 square metres. Their work was complicated by the constant threat of repeated Russian strikes, forcing rescuers to periodically take shelter.
Emergency and rescue operations have been completed. All of the city’s emergency services worked at the scene.
The Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration said Russian forces targeted civilian infrastructure during the attacks, including businesses, bus stops, buses and commercial facilities.
Regional governor Ivan Fedorov called the rescuers who worked under the threat of repeated attacks “heroes without weapons”.
