Russian forces carried out several airstrikes on Sumy overnight on August 28. One person was killed and seven others were injured.
This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to Sumy regional governor Oleh Hryhorov, Russian forces dropped eight guided aerial bombs on the Sumy community, with strikes recorded at five locations.
The attack damaged residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.
Emergency workers rescued two people from the rubble of a destroyed private house. Seven people were injured and one person was killed.
Rescuers were tackling several fires at the same time.
During rescue operations and firefighting, Russian forces carried out further airstrikes on the city, causing new fires. No rescuers were injured.
