        Today, January 9, Russia attacked two civilian ships flying foreign flags as they were sailing within the Ukrainian maritime corridor. The attack left several people injured, and one crew member, a Syrian national, was killed on one of the ships.

        This was reported by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba.

        While en route to the port of Chornomorsk, a Russian strike drone hit a civilian vessel flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, which was heading to load grain cargo within the Ukrainian maritime corridor. According to preliminary data, there are casualties, and the information is being clarified.

        “The ship’s seaworthiness has not been compromised, it is still underway and heading to the nearest port,” the statement said.

        A ship flying the flag of the Comoros Islands, which was transporting soybeans, was also hit near the port of Odesa. A crew member, a Syrian citizen, was killed. Rescue units have been dispatched to the scene.
