On August 26, Russian forces attacked the Kherson thermal power plant with a guided aerial bomb. As a result of the strike, the city’s main source of heat sustained serious damage.
This was reported by “Naftogaz”.
“The extent of the damage will be assessed as soon as the security situation allows. We are coordinating further actions with the local authorities,” said acting Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz Serhii Fedorenko.
The Kherson thermal power plant is part of the Naftogaz Group and is an exclusively civilian facility. Its main purpose is to supply heat to the city’s residents.
Throughout 2026, the thermal power plant has been subjected to dozens of Russian attacks.
