Russian forces again shelled the Kherson combined heat and power plant on Saturday. As a result of the attack, one employee of the facility was injured and hospitalized and is currently receiving medical care. This was reported by Naftogaz of Ukraine.
The company said the plant sustained significant damage and emergency repair works are ongoing at the site. The Kherson CHP had been the sole source of heating for tens of thousands of apartments in the city, and Russian attacks on the facility have been occurring almost daily.
Naftogaz CEO Serhii Koretskyi said the company is coordinating with local authorities to ensure backup heating solutions for Kherson residents.
Naftogaz also recalled that on December 27 Russian forces attacked gas and energy infrastructure, using Shahed-type drones against production facilities and combined heat and power plants operated by the Naftogaz Group.
